I may have mentioned it, but in case you have forgotten, my family and I travel a lot. We are constantly relocating, and it turns out the UK is next up on our list! We are hoping to arrive there in the next couple of weeks and I couldn’t be more excited. I visited the UK once in 2012 before I had a child, but unfortunately, I have not had the pleasure to be back since then. In anticipation of relocating to the UK with a child, I’ve decided to do some research and find the 10 Best Family-Friendly Attractions in the UK. Here is what I have discovered.

Warwick Castle
I think that visiting a castle is a ‘must’ when visiting, or living in, the UK. Experience life like royalty at Warwick Castle! Let your kids explore centuries-old battlements and towers while also participating in playful activities such as archery and falconry shows! Plus, with the Zog Playland, it makes this destination a fun stop for any age. Entry to the Castle is free for children under 3, so we will be making a stop here soon!
Natural History Museum
Visit this popular museum located in South Kensington that is filled with interactive exhibits. Here, you can learn all about natural science history from dinosaurs to insects to plants found around the world! Bonus: Certain parts of this museum are even free! From what I have researched, I would say this attraction is a hit with older children, so I will probably wait a year or two before taking my son. This way he can really appreciate it when we go.
Harry Potter Studio Tour
Secretly, or not so secretly, I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. I just reread all the books last year at the age of 28 and fell in love with them all over again. To say that I am super excited to visit the Harry Potter Studio Tour is probably an understatement. Fans of Harry Potter won’t want to miss out on touring some of the most iconic film locations featured throughout all 8 films such as Platform 9 3/4 at King’s Cross Station or Diagon Alley (Leadenhall Market).
Hyde Park
Another one of these family-friendly attractions that we can’t wait to visit is Hyde Park. My family and I love to spend time outdoors, so this park is the perfect place in London to spend some time outdoors in nature. With beautiful fields, gorgeous gardens, fancy cafes and fun-filled playgrounds for kids, it is the perfect place to spend the day as a family.
Chester Zoo
One of Europe’s largest zoos offers visitors a chance to get up close and personal with striking animals from around the world including giraffes, jaguars, penguins, tigers, lions among many others! Their website says that they are home to over 20,000 animals & that the property is 128 acres! Those are some incredible numbers. I can’t wait to take my little one here and check out these animals!
Paultons Park
Paultons Park has a huge variety of rides and attractions. This theme park has something exciting to do at every turn. According to their website, children under 1 meter can enter for free! They also have great deals and discounts available. Additionally, they have an area called “Tornado Springs” and my son is obsessed with cars.
Stonehenge
Experience a piece of living history at Stonehenge. This ancient monument is a must-see for any family traveling to, or living in, the UK. Kids will love learning about how these stones were placed here thousands of years ago and what they represent. This is probably something that I would enjoy seeing more than my son. However, I want him to get the chance to see it while we are in the UK.
Edinburgh Castle
Another great family-friendly attraction to visit is Edinburgh Castle. This iconic castle sits atop an extinct volcano & offers breathtaking views as well as fascinating tours through its grounds that detail its many battles throughout the ages. Your kids will love hearing all about how this castle was used in the past!
London Eye
Take a ride on the iconic London Eye Ferris Wheel and get unparalleled views of London from above. Not only is it a great way to see the sights, but kids will love getting a glimpse of Big Ben and other famous landmarks from up high! This is again probably something to do with your older children, so we might wait a year or two before actually getting on it.
Sea Life Aquarium
My son loves aquariums. He could honestly stare at the sharks (while singing Baby Shark of course) for hours. So, I had to find one for us to visit once we get to the UK. I was excited to find Sea Life Aquarium right in London! According to their website, tickets start at £26.50 per person, but there are various annual passes available that can make it significantly cheaper. With so many different creatures and attractions, it is money well spent!
BONUS: Lake District National Park
A bonus stop on my list of family-friendly attractions in the UK is Lake District National Park. After living in the desert for the last year, this National Park is high up on our list of places to visit. Escape into nature at this stunning national park located in northwest England where you can find lovely hiking trails, crystal clear lakes, and gorgeous rolling hills. It is the perfect place for exploring with your family!
I am extremely excited to be relocating to the UK and can’t wait to try out all these incredible attractions! Be sure to check out my blog over the next couple of weeks for some updates on places that we actually have had the chance to visit! If you have any other family-friendly attractions in the UK that you know of, please share them in the comments below! We are definitely looking for some more ideas!
